Frequently Asked Question

Title iconBluetooth File Transfer (Android) - FAQs

Why doesn't it work on my Android phone? (Hero / Galaxy / Spica / GW620)

Unfortunately, some Android smartphones still can't use Bluetooth functionality to transfer files. It happens mainly with Android 1.5 (Cupcake) and Android 1.6 (Donut). Please refer to our compatibility table and check if your mobile phone is currently supported (or not) by our application.

NOTE - starting from Android 2.0 (or above), the Bluetooth layer will work correctly, even with the unsupported phones!!!

Why "Bluetooth File Transfer" requires the contact read permissions?

In order to send your contacts over Bluetooth, if you wish, for example to your car-kit or to another smartphone. Open main menu, select Send contacts item, put a check beside the contacts you would like to send and finally press Send button.

Why "Bluetooth File Transfer" requires START AT BOOT permission?

In order to start Bluetooth FTP and/or OPP background services when device boot. Go to program settings look inside FTP or OPP page for "Start at boot" option.

Why can't I receive files with Android 1.5 (Cupcake) or 1.6 (Donut)?

If your phone is ROOTed, in other words you have gained root permissions with an hack and subsequently you have installed a customized firmware like CyanogenMod or Dwang, then you can receive files from any device (by accepting a "SU", aka SuperUser, dialog request).
Otherwise, without root permissions, you can receive files only from another "Bluetooth File Transfer (for Android)" software; so in this case only Android-to-Android transfers are supported. However, even without root, if you are able to connect to your target device (laptop, mobile phone, printer, car kit, and so on...) using our sofware, then you can download the files you want.

DOWNLOAD = receive files, UPLOAD = send files

After "Move to SD card" I'm no more able to find the widget: why?

Unfortunately, there are some limits (or "bugs" if you prefer) on the Move to SD card feature of Android (Froyo 2.2 or above) and one of them is the inability to use home-screen widgets once the application is placed on the SDcard. Some links:

There's a way to block the "300 seconds" discoverable request?

When the "300 seconds" discoverable dialog appear, just press [NO] button and it will not prompt you again, the next time.

Why the Bluetooth communication sometimes becomes slow?

Almost all mobile phones enter into power saving state, or into stand-by state if you prefer this term, after a period of inactivity. When this happens, some mobile phones also put its Bluetooth chip in low-consumption state, making active transfers extremely slow and troublesome. Therefore, when you experience this problem, just recover both mobile phones (sender and receiver) from the power saving/stand-by state.

Can I send music, videos and photos with this program?

Sure! First of all you have to locate the files you would like to send via Bluetooth, by using our powerful search engine: open main menu and click over the "Find files" button. Insert all the search parameters you desire and then press "Find" button. When the research is completed, put a check beside the files you want to send, then open main menu, press "More" button and finally click over the "Send via Bluetooth (## items)" button. Now just select the target device and the transfer starts … that's all!

Why can't I print any photo with my PoGo printer?

To fix this problem you have to install and launch the FxCamera application, now go to "Config" menu of Polandroid and then choose Film Type - Rectangle(3:2). After doing this, you will be able to Bluetooth shooted pictures to your PoGo printer.

Can I receive files without ROOT permissions?

Sure, if you are able to connect to your target device (laptop, mobile phone, printer, car kit, and so on...) using our sofware, then you can download the files you want.

DOWNLOAD = receive files

What's the difference between the FULL version and the LITE version?

None, they have exactly the same features: the only difference is about JAR file size. The LITE version is smaller because contains English language only and low resolution icons. That's all.

Why does it keep asking me for .NET 2.0 even though I have .NET 4.x installed?

The issue you are experiencing is due to version compatibility of the .NET Framework! Even if you have version 4.0 (or above) installed on your system, applications that require earlier versions, such as .NET Framework 2.0 in our case, may not work properly without that specific version installed. This is because each version of the .NET Framework contains its own runtime and core libraries, and not all versions are fully backwards compatible.

Versions and dependencies
Version compatibility

To fix this, you can install the .NET Framework 3.5, which includes versions 2.0 and 3.0. You can do this by following these steps:

  1. Open Control Panel.
  2. Go to Programs and then Programs and Features.
  3. Click on Turn Windows features on or off.
  4. Select .NET Framework 3.5 (includes .NET 2.0 and 3.0) and click OK.

This should allow you to run our application that requires .NET Framework 2.0!

How can I check if native Microsoft Bluetooth drivers are correctly installed on my system?

Download, install and execute Bluetooth Network Scanner (Windows): a Medieval Software program available at our website for free. Then make a scan for local devices, if you get at least one result, Microsoft drivers are correctly installed on your system!

When I try to connect with my phone I get the error 10064 and I can't continue: why?

This is an authentication problem with some mobile phones. First of all, delete your authentication/pair record from both computer and mobile phone. Then pair (authenticate) again your mobile phone with your Windows computer: double-click the Bluetooth icon in the tray bar (bottom-right area), then press "Add" button and follow the on-screen instructions. When finished, try to use our software again…

Why I get the error [Net.DiscoverDevices(259): No more data available]?

This error means that you don't have any Bluetooth dongle installed on your system or it's not driven by native Microsoft Bluetooth drivers. You can solve this error by plugging on your Bluetooth dongle in your computer or by installing the Microsoft Bluetooth drivers, before launching this application again.

How can I download and install Microsoft native Bluetooth drivers?

Microsoft Bluetooth Drivers are embedded in the operating system (Windows XP SP1 and above). You must uninstall and remove all previous third-party drivers (Widcomm, Broadcomm, Toshiba or BlueSoleil) installed on your system, then reboot: Microsoft drivers will be automatically restored at next boot time. Here is the complete list of Microsoft's supported Bluetooth dongles http://support.microsoft.com/kb/841803.

Why can't I connect to my BlackBerry device?

Title iconMedieval CUE Splitter (Windows) - FAQs

User manual

I get an error like [Could not find 'MACDll.dll' file on your system] with some CUEs: why?

You get this error because your CUEsheet file uses an APE file as audio input source, so you need to install an old version of Monkey's Audio software. Here you can download Monkey's Audio 4.06, while you can get latest version of the software from the official website. CUE Splitter uses Monkey's Audio Library version 4.0 (or above), therefore it is incompatible with previous version 3.99 (and lower).

If you already installed Monkey's Audio and still get this error, make sure that MACDll.dll version 4.0 is under '%WINDIR%\System32' or in the system search path, otherwise CUE Splitter can't recognize it correctly.

Why can't I play CUEsheet files generated by CUE Splitter using foobar2000?

CUE Splitter generates CUEsheet files adding a personal comments and using a Unicode (UTF-16 encoding) file format; as it's default values. Unfortunately some versions of foobar2000 can't load CUEsheets with personal comments and/or saved in Unicode UTF-16 encoding format.

So to solve this problem you must open CUE Splitter and press F6 to enter into the configuration window. Then switch to the "Miscellaneous" tab. Uncheck the option "Insert customized 'CUE Splitter' comment on generated CUE sheet files" and select ANSI under the "Text encoding of automatically generated CUE sheet files" combobox.

Now foobar2000 can read CUEsheets without problem!
